Bleach delays episodes 49 and 50 to October ahead of finale

Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War – The Calamity is pausing its weekly run before its final two episodes. On Saturday, September 12, the production committee announced that episode 49 has moved to October 19, 2026, with episode 50 following on October 26 on TV Tokyo. The change creates a break of more than a month after episode 48.

The reason given is a statement from the production team: the schedule was changed to allow “quality improvements” as the story approaches its climax. The committee apologized for the wait and said work would continue toward the anime’s conclusion. It did not identify which stage of production needs more time, so the notice does not support claims about a particular technical, financial or staffing problem.

The revised Bleach schedule

On TV Tokyo and its affiliates, episode 49 is listed for October 19 at 24:00, a convention in Japanese television schedules that refers to the midnight immediately after that date. BS TV Tokyo will air it on October 20 at 24:30. Japanese streaming platforms are scheduled to begin adding the episode at noon on October 20.

Episode 50 follows the same sequence one week later: TV Tokyo on October 26 at 24:00, BS TV Tokyo on October 27 at 24:30, and digital distribution in Japan beginning at noon on October 27. VIZ Media also confirmed the revised timetable for English-speaking audiences. However, the notices reviewed do not provide a Brazil-specific release time, so availability should be checked with the service carrying the series in each region.

Four selected episodes will fill the gap

TV Tokyo will not leave the slot empty. The network has scheduled a four-week “Climax Selection”: episode 7, “BORN IN THE DARK,” on September 19; episode 28, “KILL THE KING,” on September 26; episode 46, “THE END,” on October 5; and episode 48, “THE END TWO WORLD,” on October 12.

The lineup works as a guided recap of the path toward the final confrontation between Ichigo Kurosaki and Yhwach. It combines an episode from the adaptation’s first part with much more recent events instead of simply rerunning the previous four installments. The schedule itself is confirmed; describing the selection as a preparation route for the ending is an editorial inference based on the episodes chosen.

What the hiatus changes for viewers

The delay places the ending across two consecutive weeks in October, but it interrupts the weekly rhythm immediately before the conclusion. For people following the broadcast, the September 12 installment will be the last new episode for five weeks. For the production, the additional window creates more working time, although the announcement does not reveal how much of it will go to animation, compositing, editing or final review.

The Calamity is the fourth and final part of Thousand-Year Blood War, which adapts the last arc of Tite Kubo’s manga. Official statements describe episodes 49 and 50 as the climax leading to the anime’s conclusion. No extension beyond episode 50 has been announced. The confirmed development is therefore neither a cancellation nor a format change: it is a new pair of dates for the two installments that close the published schedule.
