DC/Marvel collection is listed for September 15 after announcement named the 8th

DC/Marvel: The Cosmic Kiss Caper & Other Stories is currently listed by Penguin Random House for release on September 15, 2026. That date differs from DC's announcement in June, which named September 8. The sources reviewed do not contain a statement explaining the one-week change. The safest reading is therefore that the latest commercial listing points to the 15th while the publisher's institutional announcement still displays the 8th.

The book gathers stories from the collaboration that reopened encounters between characters from the two publishers after more than twenty years without a program of comparable scale. Its central features are DC/Marvel: Batman/Deadpool #1, written by Grant Morrison and drawn by Dan Mora, and DC/Marvel: Superman/Spider-Man #1, by Mark Waid and Jorge Jiménez. It also brings two vertical-scroll comics to paper: The Flash/Fantastic Four, by Jeremy Adams and Adrian Gutierrez, and Supergirl/Blade, by CRC Payne and Mikel Janín.

The current date and what remains unexplained

DC's page describes a 224-page collection in hardcover and paperback, arriving September 8. The Penguin Random House product page, which carries current preorder information, retains the same page count and formats but gives an availability date of September 15. It lists the hardcover at US$29.99 and the paperback at US$19.99.

An earlier ICv2 report published in April recorded September 8 and 176 pages. That page-count information has been superseded in both current catalogs: DC and Penguin Random House now agree on 224 pages. Their primary pages continue to disagree on the date, however. Without a note from the publisher or distributor, it would be inaccurate to claim that a formal delay, a logistics adjustment, or a simple failure to update the original announcement caused the difference.

The distinction matters because book listings can change before distribution. A date provided by a retailer or distributor is a practical reference for preorders, but it does not constitute an editorial explanation. Interested readers should treat September 15 as the current commercial estimate in the Penguin Random House catalog and check local availability, which may differ outside the United States.

What the collection actually contains

The book takes its title from the lead story in Batman/Deadpool #1. DC originally published the special in November 2025, pairing Grant Morrison's metafictional approach with Dan Mora's artwork. The issue also carried short stories featuring combinations such as Constantine and Doctor Strange, Nightwing and Wolverine, Harley Quinn and Hulk, and Static and Ms. Marvel.

Superman/Spider-Man expands the project through two heroes who also work as reporters in their civilian identities. In the story by Mark Waid and Jorge Jiménez, Clark Kent and Peter Parker investigate a conspiracy involving Brainiac and Doctor Octopus. The collection is not presented as a new ongoing saga that permanently merges both universes; it organizes specials and shorter stories created within the recent collaboration.

Its scope also needs to be stated precisely. The official description names the DC-published specials, but it does not say that the book includes every mirrored issue released by Marvel. The volume should therefore not be described as a complete collection of every DC/Marvel crossover published during the cycle.

From vertical scrolling to printed pages

The first physical editions of The Flash/Fantastic Four and Supergirl/Blade are among the package's most distinctive features. Stories created for vertical scrolling arrange panels, spacing, and reveals around the continuous movement of a screen. A printed edition has to make that material work with page turns, spreads, and a fixed reading area.

DC has not publicly detailed, in the reviewed sources, how every sequence was redistributed for print. What is confirmed is the inclusion of both stories and the first-print status of those editions. The volume consequently works as both a compilation of the headline encounters and a physical record of material previously confined to digital publication.

With publication close, the date discrepancy is more useful to readers than a debate over which page was correct when the book was announced. The contents, length, and formats align across the current sources. The remaining question is when copies will actually reach retailers, and the September 15 listing is presently the newest commercial reference.
