Muramasa: Revenant Blades launches February 4, 2027

Marvelous has set February 4, 2027 as the release date for Muramasa: Revenant Blades. The side-scrolling action RPG developed by Vanillaware is coming to PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. The date was confirmed on September 10 alongside a nearly ten-minute video focused on combat, progression, and the updated release’s additional features.

The announcement establishes when players can return to the game’s supernatural interpretation of Japan’s Genroku era, but it also makes clear that this project involves more than a resolution increase. Revenant Blades combines the campaign from Muramasa: Rebirth, released for PlayStation Vita, with the additional stories from Genroku Legends. All six protagonists will be available from the beginning, and each storyline can be played in any order.

Six stories in one release

Kisuke and Momohime remain tied to the sword-forging system, while Okoi, Gonbe, Arashimaru, and Rajaki develop through training and charm creation. That distinction matters because the latter four characters originated as additional content for the Vita version and use their own weapons, forms, and play styles. Placing them in one release creates a more straightforward entry point than the earlier split between a base game and expansions.

Marvelous says players will be able to forge more than 100 swords. Mastered techniques can be assigned to as many as three commands for both ground and aerial combat, allowing skills to be switched during a fight. The footage also shows chained normal attacks, dashes, jumps, parries, and the ability to deflect projectiles. These are publisher-confirmed features, not an advance judgment about the combat’s depth or balance.

The presentation has been upgraded to high definition with 4K support. The company also promises updated controls, a new English localization, and full English voice acting for the first time. No Brazilian Portuguese localization or voice-over has been confirmed in the information released so far.

Classic mode preserves a Vita-era reference point

Additional features include an illustration gallery, a character viewer, event replays, and new modes and gameplay options. Marvelous has also confirmed a classic mode based on the PlayStation Vita versions of Muramasa: The Demon Blade and Genroku Legends, although the visuals will be enhanced. In practical terms, the option creates a comparison point inside the package: players can choose between revised systems and a setup closer to the previous release.

That preservation choice is notable because Muramasa spent years tied to platforms that no longer receive regular new releases. The game began on Wii in 2009 and later received an expanded Vita edition. A simultaneous release on current consoles, the original Switch, and PC broadens access without completely erasing the way the portable version played. The Steam release also brings a Vanillaware title to PC, representing a meaningful expansion of the studio’s commercial reach.

In North America, Marvelous has opened physical preorders for all three console versions and says the Switch 2 cartridge will contain the complete game. A limited edition will include an art book, a soundtrack CD, and a decorative folding screen. Those prices and packages are regional; the publisher has not yet detailed the digital editions or confirmed specific physical availability in Brazil.

With the date established, the central fact is straightforward: Muramasa: Revenant Blades arrives in February with previously separate material gathered into one package and a classic alternative included. The quality of the conversion, performance on each platform, and the effect of the combat changes cannot be established until independent testing or access to the final build becomes available.
