R42 / SUMMARY

Kadokawa opened the digital KADOKAWA WORLD MANGA label on KadoComi on October 30, 2026. It offers free opening and recent chapters from selected series in English. The launch includes four new translations — BRAIN ALIVE, Kung Fu Kung Fool, Spica and Voice of Books and A Peach Offering for the Imperial Court — and brings existing English releases of Elden Ring: The Road to the Erdtree and Suikoden STAR LEAP into the same label page.

KEY POINTS

  1. 01The label launched on October 30 within the KadoComi digital platform.
  2. 02Four series received new English versions at launch.
  3. 03Elden Ring: The Road to the Erdtree and Suikoden STAR LEAP are also grouped under the label.
  4. 04Free access covers selected opening and recent chapters, not necessarily complete series.

Kadokawa launched KADOKAWA WORLD MANGA on October 30, 2026, a digital label dedicated to English versions of manga currently circulating in Japan. The page operates within KadoComi and offers free opening and recent chapters from selected works, aiming to reduce the wait between Japanese serialization and an international reader’s first official access.

The launch catalog introduces four new translations: BRAIN ALIVE, Kung Fu Kung Fool, Spica and Voice of Books and A Peach Offering for the Imperial Court. The page also groups two series that were already published in English on the platform: Elden Ring: The Road to the Erdtree and Suikoden STAR LEAP.

The model brings readers closer to Japanese serialization

The main change is not simply translating manga into English, something Kadokawa already did through previews and licensed releases. The new label establishes a recurring destination for current series and promises access to both their beginnings and newest chapters without waiting for a complete English volume.

That makes the page a discovery channel rather than a complete library. The announced free access applies to selected chapters; it does not mean that every intermediate chapter, full digital volume or print edition will be free. Kadokawa has also not announced translations for its entire catalog or a universal schedule between Japanese publication and English release.

At launch, the KadoComi page lists chapter one for each of the four new translations. BRAIN ALIVE is scheduled to update again on November 2, Kung Fu Kung Fool on November 5 and Spica and Voice of Books on November 6. A Peach Offering for the Imperial Court does not yet show a date for its next update.

The lineup combines Japanese and international creators

BRAIN ALIVE is a dark fantasy written by Rafał Jaki, an executive producer on the first season of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, in collaboration with other artists. Kung Fu Kung Fool is an action comedy by the India-based duo masterlynx, who won a silver prize in Kadokawa’s international contest that preceded the current KADOKAWA WORLD MANGA CONTEST.

The other two launch translations come from Japanese creators. Spica and Voice of Books, by Kimiko Ueno, follows an elf who can hear the voices of books and takes work at a bookbinding workshop. A Peach Offering for the Imperial Court, by Yūho Uechi, combines romance and fantasy in an imperial court.

The international mix is connected to KADOKAWA WORLD MANGA ATELIER, a program that runs contests, portfolio reviews and editorial support for creators outside Japan. The English-language label gives those works a route back to global readers after Japanese publication. In the case of Kung Fu Kung Fool, the Indian team originally wrote the work in English, collaborated with editors on its Japanese adaptation and is now receiving an official English release.

What the label still needs to prove

The launch addresses one familiar international-access problem: readers can sample current manga through an authorized channel and translation before a complete edition reaches other markets. It also gives the publisher a way to measure interest in lesser-known series without relying solely on sales of licensed volumes.

Its impact will depend on translation consistency, the number of titles added, regional availability and clear rules about which chapters remain free. Kadokawa says the lineup will expand over time, but it has not published a target number of works, additional languages or an overall release calendar.

KADOKAWA WORLD MANGA should therefore be understood as an official English discovery and reading channel. It shortens the distance between selected serializations and international audiences, but it does not yet replace full editions, local licenses or services that keep complete chapter archives available.
