  1. 01The October 18 teaser debuts Aya Yamane as Maru and Karin Takahashi as Coco.
  2. 02The production remains scheduled for 2027, with no exact premiere date or international release announced.
  3. 03S/N directs, Katsuie Shibata writes the script, and ARECT is animating alongside Toei Animation.
  4. 04The story contrasts Maru's technological City with Coco's Zone, which is inhabited by beings called Transcendent Organisms.
  5. 05The project expands a transmedia initiative that already includes a CG short, a VR animation and a mixed-reality game.

Kaiju Decode: The Ring of Aidara received a new teaser on October 18 featuring the first voiced footage of its two leads. Aya Yamane plays Maru, while Karin Takahashi takes the role of Coco. The video arrived alongside the production's third promotional visual and retains a 2027 release window.

That window is the limit of what has been confirmed about the release. Tsuburaya Productions and Toei Animation have not announced a day, month, runtime, platform or international distribution plan. Claims of a worldwide opening or availability outside Japan therefore remain unconfirmed.

The teaser introduces two worlds in conflict

The story takes place after an event called the Skyfall Disaster. In 2070, the effects of a supernova cause several space stations to fall and bring an unknown bacterium to Earth. The organism begins eroding or assimilating matter, creating creatures classified as Transcendent Organisms.

Maru lives in the City, a technological society described as being free from the limits of body, mind, space and time. He hunts kaiju to make a living. Coco belongs to the Aidara people and lives in the Zone, a dangerous region where humans and creatures coexist. The new footage emphasizes both monster action and the encounter between characters raised in opposing environments.

The official characterization frames the conflict around coexistence rather than a simple battle between people and kaiju. Coco wants to live alongside the creatures, while Maru depends on hunting them. The third promotional visual reinforces that distinction by showing her reaching toward the kaiju Giila.

The staff brings Tsuburaya and Toei Animation together

S/N directs the production from a script by Katsuie Shibata. Sei Nakashima designed Maru, and Masatsugu Saito designed Coco. Tsuburaya Productions' Masayuki Goto handles the kaiju designs. ARECT and Toei Animation are credited with animation production, while Toei is also listed as producer.

Sakai in Osaka Prefecture is more than a visual reference. The municipal film office identifies the city as the story's setting and organized an October 18 event with Yamane, Takahashi and producer Koichi Noguchi. The program also included a mixed-reality game demonstration, a stamp rally and augmented-reality activities.

From transmedia experiment to a central story

Kaiju Decode was announced in 2019 as an international collaboration between Tsuburaya and Toei. The project has since released a nine-minute CG short, the virtual-reality animation First Contact, and the game Super Multiverse MR. The new production retains that interest in immersive technology while shifting attention toward a more clearly defined story about Maru, Coco and Sakai.

That reading is an editorial inference rather than a company promise: the teaser suggests the franchise is trying to turn experiences spread across several formats into a work with characters and conflict capable of reaching a broader audience. The step is notable, but essential information is still missing, especially the final format, runtime and release strategy beyond Japan.
