Amazon has announced a new generation of Kindle e-readers for Brazil, with prices ranging from R$899 for the base model to R$1,749 for the Colorsoft Signature Edition. The family includes redesigned Kindle, Kindle Paperwhite, and Kindle Colorsoft devices, aluminum-backed variants, and new accessories that turn pages without requiring a direct touch on the screen.

The broadest change is construction. Amazon says every new model uses a reverse-stack display architecture, is thinner and lighter, and has a flush front panel. The company also moved the power button to the upper side edge. Its claim that the display structure is a first for the e-reader category comes from the manufacturer itself.

Brazilian prices and model differences

The six-inch Kindle with 16GB costs R$899 in Ube purple and Graphite. Amazon promises up to six weeks of battery life and book opening that is 30% faster than on the previous release. A second version, priced at R$999, doubles storage to 32GB and replaces the plastic back with aluminum.

The 16GB Kindle Paperwhite costs R$1,149. It retains water resistance, adjustable warm light, and a claimed battery life of up to 12 weeks. The R$1,349 Paperwhite Signature Edition adds 32GB, an aluminum back, an auto-adjusting front light, pogo-pin dock charging, and a double-tap gesture for turning pages.

In the color-display line, the 16GB Kindle Colorsoft costs R$1,499, while the 32GB Colorsoft Signature Edition reaches R$1,749. Amazon says it changed the light guide, backplane, and optical coating to improve brightness, contrast, and color uniformity. Those improvements are company claims and still require independent testing for a practical comparison with the previous generation.

The base Kindle is listed for preorder in Brazil, with deliveries expected in November depending on the version. Paperwhite and Colorsoft have also been announced for the country, but their shipping dates remain unconfirmed.

Physical controls return as accessories

Kindle Click is a compact Bluetooth remote for turning pages from a distance. It includes side-mounted brightness buttons, USB-C charging, and announced compatibility with every new Kindle and models released in 2024 or later. Amazon has not provided a Brazilian price or release date for the accessory.

Amazon also introduced a magnetic cover with physical forward and back buttons. Unlike the Click, it is limited to the Paperwhite Signature Edition and Colorsoft Signature Edition, connecting through the devices' rear pogo pins. A separate dock keeps those two models upright while charging.

The accessories formalize reading setups that customers have improvised with stands and third-party remotes. By separating these controls from the main hardware, however, Amazon reserves the integrated-button experience for more expensive models and an additional purchase. The base Kindle cannot use the button cover, though it can use the remote.

Replaceable batteries and the announcement's limits

Amazon Kindle vice president Kevin Keith told The Verge that the new devices have user-replaceable batteries to comply with European Union rules. Amazon's global announcement did not explain the procedure, parts availability, or repair terms in each country. The presence of the feature therefore does not establish that replacement will be simple or offered under identical conditions in Brazil.

The new lineup combines a broad physical redesign with incremental reading changes. Its most notable functional advance is not confined to one device but comes from the wider range of ways to hold, support, and control a Kindle. The practical impact will depend on local accessory availability and how the displays perform in independent reviews.
