Power Stone: Why Its Most Important Function Is Not Destroying Planets

Destroying a city or breaking a planet is the Power Stone’s cinematic face. In comics, the function making it indispensable is less visible: it supplies the energy that lets impossible effects continue operating at scale.

A cosmic reserve

The Stone provides energy on a virtually inexhaustible scale for physical and destructive ends. Strength, endurance, and projection can rise far beyond a user’s natural ability. It does not merely fire energy; it allows power to be stored, channeled, and regulated.

Amplifying the other five

This is its most overlooked use. Reality may define a change, but Power supplies the scale to sustain it; Space reaches anywhere, and Power lets that location be affected; Mind and Soul stop operating upon only a few individuals. The Gauntlet becomes a system because Power acts as its engine.

Control matters more than strength

Receiving energy does not guarantee precision. An unprepared bearer may destroy what they intended to protect or be consumed by the load. The difference between a concentrated strike and planetary release depends on discipline, resistance, and comprehension.

Drax literally kept it inside his body

In the Infinity Watch, Drax received the Power Gem and, without understanding its importance, swallowed it. The situation is comic, but it shows that the Gem can enhance ability even when its guardian is not consciously exploring its full reach.

Energy can reinforce defense

The same reserve used offensively can increase durability, sustain exertion, and maintain other effects. A bearer need not always choose the largest blast; power can be distributed among strength, protection, speed, and the other Stones.

The Orb and the danger of contact in the MCU

In Guardians of the Galaxy, the purple Stone is protected by the Orb. Ordinary organisms can be destroyed by direct contact, while sharing the load reduces its immediate effect. Ronan uses his hammer to channel it and attempts to transfer its energy into Xandar.

A film rule, not every comic’s rule

The MCU’s physical incompatibility should not become an automatic limit in every printed story. In comics, possession, skill, and cosmic context vary. The common point is that uncontrolled energy can threaten the user as well as the target.

Why it cannot replace the rest

Power is not Reality, Time, or Soul. Infinite energy does not automatically grant knowledge, time travel, or spiritual manipulation. Its greatness lies in making the other domains executable on a cosmic scale.
