R42 / SUMMARY

Spider-Man: Brand New Day passed $900 million in the United States and Canada in 36 days. Box Office Mojo and The Numbers showed $903.6 million domestically and $2.345 billion worldwide on the morning of September 6, 2026. The film had not yet passed Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ domestic record.

KEY POINTS

  1. 01The confirmed domestic total stood at $903.6 million on the morning of September 6.
  2. 02The film reached $900 million in 36 days, according to Deadline and Variety.
  3. 03Its recorded worldwide total had reached $2.345 billion.
  4. 04Holiday-weekend forecasts were not yet final results.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day has passed $900 million at the box office in the United States and Canada. On the morning of September 6, 2026, Box Office Mojo and The Numbers displayed the same domestic total of $903,627,495. Both trackers also recorded $1.441 billion from international markets and $2.345 billion worldwide.

Deadline and Variety reported that the film reached the domestic milestone in 36 days, the shortest time for any release to reach $900 million without adjusting for inflation. The historical comparison is nominal: it does not adjust older ticket sales for inflation or normalize differences in ticket prices, premium formats, or market size.

The Star Wars record has not been broken yet

The result made Brand New Day only the second film to cross $900 million in the domestic market. Star Wars: The Force Awakens remains the leader with $936,662,225 earned in North America. The gap between the two totals was slightly more than $33 million when the figures were checked.

The pace is a separate record. According to the trade publications, the new Spider-Man needed 36 days to reach the threshold, compared with 50 days for The Force Awakens. That does not guarantee the final record will fall: daily revenue normally declines as a release loses theaters and encounters new competition.

The extended Labor Day weekend was still underway. Variety projected roughly $22 million over the four days and a domestic total near $922 million by the end of the holiday. Those figures are forecasts rather than finalized results, so they are not included in the confirmed total reported here.

The performance did not depend on opening weekend alone

The film opened to $360.1 million domestically according to the trackers’ updated data. The Associated Press had initially reported an estimate of $355 million, plus $572 million outside North America. This difference is normal in box-office coverage: estimates published on Sunday are replaced by revised figures after studios and measurement services consolidate ticket sales.

The path to $900 million also shows staying power. The Numbers records $144.3 million in the second weekend, $70.7 million in the third, $39 million in the fourth, and $22.5 million in the fifth. The declines were consecutive, as expected after a major opening, but the initial scale and continuing demand allowed the production to accumulate more than two and a half times its domestic debut.

Internationally, the $1.441 billion total represented about 61.5% of worldwide revenue. The North American milestone therefore tells only part of the commercial story: the film had already passed $2.3 billion across all tracked markets.

What the milestone shows, and what it does not

The numbers confirm that Brand New Day combined an exceptional launch with several weeks of high ticket sales. Citing EntTelligence estimates, the AP reported that approximately 24.1 million people attended the film in North America during its opening weekend alone. Exit polling cited by the news agency also indicated strong participation from moviegoers under 25.

The result can reasonably be read as evidence of the specific drawing power of the character, cast, and theatrical event assembled by Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios. One title, however, cannot establish that every superhero film has regained the same audience appeal. The supported conclusion is narrower: in nominal dollars, Spider-Man: Brand New Day reached $900 million domestically faster than any previous film and moved within reach of The Force Awakens record.
