Stellar Blade releases Switch 2 demo and reveals four Bayonetta outfits

Shift Up released a free Stellar Blade Complete Edition demo on the Nintendo Switch 2 eShop on Sunday, September 20. The trial was announced during a Tokyo Game Show 2026 presentation and arrived alongside a new video for the Bayonetta collaboration, now showing all four outfits made for EVE.

The designs are named Bayonetta, Nun, Jeanne and Black Tresses. Shift Up had already confirmed that the set would be distributed at no additional cost on Switch 2, PlayStation 5 and PC. The update becomes available on November 5 at 7 a.m. Pacific and 3 p.m. GMT, which is midnight on November 6 in South Korea and Japan.

The demo puts the Switch 2 conversion in players' hands

The most significant part of the announcement is not simply the promotional crossover. With a demo on the eShop, players can directly test how a game built for more powerful hardware performs on Switch 2 before release. That conclusion is an editorial inference based on the trial's availability; Shift Up has not described the download as a public technical test.

The company has also not detailed which sections are included or confirmed whether progress will transfer to the full version in the information reviewed. Any promise about its length, complete feature set or save-data carryover would therefore be speculation. The confirmed point is that the download is already available for free on the console.

Stellar Blade Complete Edition launches for Switch 2 on November 5 in the Americas and Europe. South Korea and Japan receive it on November 6 because of the time-zone difference. According to Nintendo and Shift Up, the package includes the main game, previously released NieR:Automata and Goddess of Victory: Nikke collaboration content, and Complete Edition bonuses. Selected non-combat activities, including fishing, will support Joy-Con 2 motion controls.

The collaboration is not exclusive to Nintendo's console

The new video clarifies the crossover's scope: this is a cosmetic collection for EVE, not the addition of Bayonetta as a playable character. Three outfits use recognizable visual references from PlatinumGames' series, while Black Tresses is an original design by Stellar Blade director Kim Hyung-tae, conceived as an interpretation of the character within the game's world.

Releasing the same update on PS5 and PC prevents the collaboration from becoming exclusive content for the new port. In practice, the Complete Edition offers a new entry point on Switch 2, while existing players on the other platforms receive the same four outfits through a free update.

The strategy separates two purposes. The Bayonetta content broadens the marketing campaign around the release, but the demo addresses a more practical question: how the experience presents itself on Nintendo's portable hardware. Until independent technical analysis is available, the trial is the most direct way for each player to assess image quality, control response and fluidity on their own console.
