Nintendo launched the Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave Expansion Pass for Nintendo Switch 2 on Thursday, October 15, 2026. The package costs $34.99 in the United States and will be delivered in three waves. The first is available now, the second is scheduled for the 2026 holiday period, and the third will arrive sometime in 2027.
The waves cannot be purchased separately. Nintendo says the full game is required and sells a bundle containing the base title and the expansion for $104.99 in the US market. Because the most substantial narrative content is not due until the final wave, buying the pass now also means committing in advance to releases that do not yet have exact dates.
What each Expansion Pass wave adds
The first wave includes prototype weapons for the four heroes, modeled after the Heroes’ Relics from Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Nintendo's description does not promise new chapters in this stage. That makes the initial release primarily a mechanical addition, while content with greater potential to change campaigns and party compositions is being saved for later.
The second wave will add outfits and let players enlist gods in battle. However, Nintendo's own pages disagree on the lineup. The company's news post lists Mars, Aurora, Smyrnos and Jurah. The product page on the Nintendo store names only Aurora, Smyrnos and Jurah. As of publication, Nintendo had not publicly clarified whether Mars was removed from the list or whether the store omission is simply a description error. The exact number of allies in this wave therefore remains uncertain.
The third wave contains the narrative expansion. Nintendo's store promises new stories featuring Bertrand, Talimun, Orchel and Anatolia, along with recruitable allies and additional classes. Its release window remains broad: only 2027 has been confirmed, with no month or day.
Version 1.1.0 prepares the game for paid content
Expansion Pass support arrived through version 1.1.0 on October 14. According to Nintendo's official notes, the update adds compatibility with the pass and places a “DLC” link on the title screen that directs players to the Nintendo eShop. No additional balance adjustments or bug fixes were listed for this version.
The distinction matters because it prevents the paid content from being confused with a free software update. Version 1.1.0 prepares the interface and game to recognize the pass; the weapons, outfits, allies and stories belong to the separately sold product.
The pass's value depends on future deliveries
At $34.99, the pass costs half as much as the base game's official $69.99 US price. Its immediate benefit at launch is limited to the four weapons. The broader elements — new usable characters, classes and stories — are split between late 2026 and 2027.
That does not establish that the pass contains little content, because Nintendo has not detailed the length or structure of the new stories. The safer inference is different: the package's perceived value will depend mainly on the third wave and how it integrates with the existing routes. Until Nintendo explains its scope, requirements and dates, comparisons with a complete campaign remain speculative.
Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave launched for Nintendo Switch 2 on September 17, 2026. The Expansion Pass is available now, but its waves are not sold individually.
