  3. 03The complete Dandori Academy edition releases on November 12.
  4. 04Pikmin Bloom will add the Secret Caves activity during the Northern Hemisphere winter.
  5. 05Hello! Pikmin will release new monthly shorts beginning in December.

Nintendo has officially designated November 1 as Pikmin Day, an annual celebration of the series created by Shigeru Miyamoto. The first themed Direct combined updates for Pikmin 4 on Nintendo Switch 2, the Pikmin Bloom mobile app and a new series of shorts titled Hello! Pikmin. The presentation did not announce a new game.

Miyamoto explained the date through a visual association: the red, blue and yellow Pikmin from the original game can be imagined as three number ones, forming 11/1. The explanation is promotional and does not change the franchise’s original anniversary, which dates to the 2001 Nintendo GameCube release.

Pikmin 4 gets a demo before its Switch 2 release

A free demo of Pikmin 4 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Dandori Academy will launch on November 2, 2026. The trial includes Sun-Speckled Terrace, the campaign’s opening area, and two Dandori Academy stages. The complete edition arrives on November 12 with improved visuals and support for Brazilian Portuguese, according to Nintendo’s official store page.

On Switch 2, the system’s built-in microphone allows players to issue voice commands to Oatchi, including orders to rush or perform tasks. The new Dandori Academy mode presents timed collection challenges. Players can practice freely, but official exams run on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays with one attempt and medals based on performance.

The structure turns Pikmin organization into a recurring test format. Instead of simply replaying the campaign, Dandori Academy creates a competitive routine around route planning, creature selection and efficiency. Nintendo did not announce direct matches between players; comparing results and earning medals does not by itself make the mode competitive multiplayer.

Pikmin Bloom connects mobile and console activity

Pikmin Bloom will add Secret Caves during the Northern Hemisphere winter. The activity uses cave maps that may appear on postcards. After obtaining a map, players send a group of Pikmin to explore, fight creatures and recover treasure for a new collection.

The products connect through special maps awarded by Dandori Academy exams. This creates a link between the Switch 2 game and the mobile app without making either one mandatory for the other’s basic experience. Nintendo has not announced an exact date for the update or explained whether every feature will become available simultaneously in all regions.

Hello! Pikmin expands the franchise through monthly shorts

The Direct also introduced Hello! Pikmin, a short-form video series developed with Nintendo Pictures. The first episode showed an encounter between a Pikmin and a frog. A second short was scheduled for Pikmin Day, another will arrive later in November and, beginning in December, the plan is to publish one episode each month through the Nintendo Today! app and other channels.

Together, the announcements suggest a strategy broader than updating a single game. Pikmin Day organizes console releases, mobile activity and animation around one recurring date. That is an editorial inference based on the presentation’s structure; Nintendo has not promised that every November 1 will include a Direct or the same volume of announcements.

The limits of the news also matter. Nintendo had warned that no new games would be revealed, and the broadcast followed that description. The first Pikmin Day serves as a calendar for previously announced products and an attempt to give the franchise an annual moment of its own. Its lasting significance will depend on whether the event returns and what future editions add.
