Netflix has confirmed Han So-hee, Kang You-seok, Sung Joon, Lee Sung-min and Jung Ji-hoon, also known as Rain, for its live-action Solo Leveling series. The five join Byeon Woo-seok, previously announced as Sung Jin-woo, the protagonist who starts at the lowest hunter rank and gains the unusual ability to level up.
The announcement turns a group of names previously linked to reports and negotiations into an official cast. It also identifies which parts of the story’s world will be represented around the lead: elite hunters, the Korean Hunters Association and two relationships that accompany Jin-woo’s rise. Netflix has not, however, announced a release date.
Who plays whom in Solo Leveling
Han So-hee will play Cha Hae-in, the only woman among Korea’s nine S-rank hunters and a fighter who wields a longsword. Kang You-seok is Yoo Jinho, a C-rank hunter and conglomerate heir who comes to treat Jin-woo like an older brother after joining him on a dungeon quest.
Sung Joon will portray Woo Jinchul, an A-rank hunter and chief inspector of the Korean Hunters Association’s surveillance team. The character monitors hunters and is among the first people to suspect that Jin-woo has undergone a new awakening.
Lee Sung-min will make a special appearance as Go Gunhee, a retired top-tier hunter and chairman of the association. Rain will also appear in a special capacity as Baek Yoonho, an S-rank hunter who can assume a beast-like form and leads the White Tiger Guild. The distinction matters: Netflix has confirmed both actors, but describes their roles as special appearances without specifying how much screen time either will receive.
The cast already outlines the adaptation’s structure
The character selection indicates that the series will not be limited to Sung Jin-woo’s individual progression. Cha Hae-in represents the top of the ranking system; Yoo Jinho gives the protagonist an ally inside the dungeons; Woo Jinchul and Go Gunhee connect the story to the institution that regulates hunters; and Baek Yoonho introduces competition and hierarchy among major guilds. Bringing those threads together allows the live-action series to develop Jin-woo’s transformation alongside its effect on the balance of power around him.
Netflix confirmed production in July 2025, when Byeon Woo-seok was announced as the lead. At the time, the company named Lee Hae-jun and Kim Byung-seo as directors and Kakao Entertainment and SANAI PICTURES as producers. The new announcement adds Han Dong-wook to the directing team. Netflix has also reiterated that the adaptation will use visual effects to build the story’s gates, dungeons and monsters.
Solo Leveling began as a Korean web novel before expanding into a webtoon, anime and games. According to figures released by Netflix, the novel and digital comic have accumulated 14.3 billion views worldwide. That reach helps explain the investment in a recognizable cast, but it does not answer how the series will condense the narrative or reproduce the scale of its battles.
So far, the confirmed details are its Korean series format, the lead actor, the five new cast members, their character assignments and the main production team. The episode count, release window and first footage remain officially unannounced.
