Nintendo has released a new overview trailer for Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, running for approximately seven minutes ahead of its September 17, 2026 launch. The English-language preview brings the premise of the Heroic Games, four narrative paths, exploration of Dagsion and the main combat systems into one video. The game will be available exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2.

The video does not change the release date or add another platform. Its purpose is to organize information Nintendo had previously shared through presentations and official pages into a continuous explanation for players who want to understand the tactical RPG’s structure before launch.

Four heroes compete for a wish in the Heroic Games

The first part of the story takes place in the Dagdan Empire, which has prospered under the rule of gods for 1,500 years. Fighters gather in the capital city of Dagsion for the Heroic Games, a competition whose winner will be granted one wish by the ruler Solel.

The paths follow Cai, who wants to free his imprisoned father; Dietrich, a swordsman searching for powerful opponents; Theodora, a queen seeking to restore the honor of her kingdom’s goddess; and Leda, a musician pursuing revenge for her father’s murder. The initial choice changes the point of view, companions and development of that portion of the narrative.

Nintendo says players are not locked to a single journey, however. Progress is stored for each hero, making it possible to move between the four paths and advance their stories in parallel. That separates the structure from a conventional route selection in which one campaign must be completed before another can begin.

Time travel connects the paths to a future crisis

Five years after the Heroic Games, the resurrected demon god Balor brings the Dagdan Empire to the edge of destruction. The four heroes have vanished. The goddess Sothis sends a soul to confront the crisis, while Fortuna offers the power to travel into the past and change the former competitors’ fates.

This device gives the paths a shared purpose: decisions made during the Games are presented not merely as separate stories, but as ways to gather strength for the future battle. That is an editorial reading of the announced structure, not confirmation of a specific number of endings or variations. Nintendo has not disclosed the full extent of the narrative consequences.

Preparation and combat rely on limited resources

Between matches, players can move around Dagsion to buy and upgrade weapons, train skills, receive blessings, take class exams, complete quests and recruit allies. Outside the city, each movement across the world map advances time, turning exploration, optional battles and dungeon visits into planning decisions.

Battles retain the turn-based tactics associated with Fire Emblem, including unit placement, movement range and attack areas. Combat Arts provide stronger effects at the cost of weapon durability. Blaze Arts are hero-specific techniques that consume health points. Fortuna’s Blessing allows the player to return to an earlier point after a move, creating room to reconsider a poor decision.

The trailer confirms these systems and the release plan, but it is not a substitute for an assessment of the finished version. Campaign length, stability, resolution and frame rate were not established by the new preview. Until the game is available, those points remain open questions rather than qualities or problems that can be assumed in advance.
